for 1854, with 3in. octagonal barrel signed on two lines 'ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY' (rubbed), plain cylinder with roll engraved stagecoach hold-up scene and marked 'COLT'S PATENT 'TOGETHER with the serial number, open iron frame signed 'COLT'S PATENT', brass grip-straps and trigger-guard bow, plain walnut smooth one-piece grip, no provision for under-barrel rammer, finish worn throughout
